hat does it mean to be a Muslim? How do you respond if it's your child who asks?

What a loaded question!

Islam is a way of life, and there are many facets of our faith to consider when defining the attributes of a Muslim.

I'm joyful to have found the book What is a Muslim by Ali Elsayed which does a fantastic job explaining just that. This book covers the five pillars of Islam while highlighting the importance of being kind, generous, tolerant, and following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

What is a Muslim by Ali Elsayed is a short (15 pages to be exact), easy read that is well-suited for a young audience between the ages of 4-9 years old. The pages on the left side contain a small amount of black text in a legible font, while the pages on the right side contain colorful illustrations that span the length and width of the pages. Additionally, the book comes with a free rhyme (voice only) to sing along to!

All-in-all, we love this book! It's a great piece to have in our collection, and it will be a great starting point in the future for deeper conversations about what distinguishes us as Muslims.
